Commonwealth Charter Academy Selected by Central Penn Business Journal as One of the Best Places to Work in PA for 2022
CCA is not just the only public cyber charter school to make this year’s list but is the only school to be honored
HARRISBURG – Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA), the largest K through 12 public cyber charter school in Pennsylvania, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Central Penn Business Journal as one of the Best Places to Work in PA for 2022, among 31 businesses/organizations in the Journal’s large companies category.
“As one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania, CCA strives to treat our employees with respect and dignity and provide our staff with a high-quality work environment, competitive compensation, and excellent benefits,” said CCA President and CEO Thomas D. Longenecker, who noted that CCA is the only school and public cyber charter school to make this year’s list. “The treatment of our staff translates into our students and families receiving high-quality educational programs and services from professionals who take pride in their work and care deeply about student success.”
Founded in 2003, CCA is a family service organization with an expertise in education that enrolls nearly 20,500 students from across Pennsylvania and employs more than 1,700 administrators, teachers, and staff.
The 2022-23 school year marks CCA’s 20th anniversary of providing online educational excellence, and it’s celebrating with students, families, and staff the success of the last 20 years.
“CCA is not only unique within the public cyber charter school community, but we set ourselves apart from all public schools in general because we put students and families at the center of every decision we make,” said Mr. Longenecker. “Our success has been strategically pursued through our commitment and dedication to students, families, and staff.”
Best Places to Work in PA identifies, recognizes, and honors the best places of employment in Pennsylvania in three categories: small companies, with 15 to 99 employees; medium companies, with 100 to 249 employees; and large companies, with 250 or more employees. To be considered, companies must have at least 15 employees working in Pennsylvania; be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity; be a publicly or privately held business; have a facility in the state of Pennsylvania; and be in business a minimum of one year.
There were two parts used to determine the rankings. The first consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics, worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, which consisted of 75% of the total. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
“The 2022 Best Places to Work in PA honorees are champions of business. They know that the people in their organizations are the key to their success,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, senior group publisher of Central Penn Business Journal. “The 2022 Best Places to Work in PA show not only excellent customer service and the delivery of a quality service or product, but they foster a positive environment for staff. They know how to make employees feel appreciated and how to keep them engaged.”
