Commonwealth Charter Academy Celebrates Largest Graduating Class in School History

More than 4,400 students honored during week-long, statewide ceremonies

HARRISBURG – Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA), Pennsylvania’s leading public cyber charter school, recently held seven graduation ceremonies across the state, celebrating the achievements of more than 4,400 students – the largest graduating class in the school’s history. Among them were more than 250 students who finished high school ahead of schedule and nine who simultaneously earned postsecondary credentials through the school’s CCAWorks program.

“Graduation is one of the most memorable moments of the school year,” said CCA President and CEO Thomas D. Longenecker. “Not only do we celebrate our graduates, but it’s also a chance to meet families and hear what brought them to CCA and led them to success. I congratulate the graduates and wish them a bright and fulfilling future.”

The week-long, statewide celebration began on Monday, June 9, with two ceremonies at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County. It continued with two more ceremonies on Tuesday, June 10, at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, followed by a single ceremony on Thursday, June 12, at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh. The festivities concluded with the final two ceremonies on Monday, June 16, at the Giant Center in Hershey, Dauphin County.

More than 30,000 family members, friends, and guests joined in celebrating the graduates’ achievements.

CCA graduated its first senior class in 2009. Since then, the school has continued to expand its programs and support services to meet students’ unique needs. Thanks to CCA’s flexible, student-centered learning model, hundreds of students in the Class of 2025 completed their high school program ahead of schedule — a testament to the power of personalized, online education.

As CCA continues to grow, its commitment remains the same: providing every student with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to succeed in school, in their careers, and in life.

“Every graduate has a unique story, and each one is proof that when students are given the flexibility to learn in a way that fits their lives, they thrive,” Longenecker said. “We’re proud of each and every one of them, and we remain committed to helping students find their purpose, their path, and the confidence to pursue it.”
