WARNING! The following article contains spoilers for the Netflix series Cobra Kai. Please watch the WHOLE show before reading! Thanks!
In 1984, the iconic drama/action film The Karate Kid was released. The movie was a hit and led to three different sequels. The Karate Kid: Part Two and The Karate Kid: Part Three were both generally liked by the public. However, The Next Karate Kid replaced Daniel LaRusso with Julie Pierce, a troubled teen who is bullied at school. The movie was a huge flunk. It was thought that the Karate Kid saga died down. However, we found out that Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, and Martin Kove would be reprising their Karate Kid roles in a new series, Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai takes place 34 years after the events of Karate Kid and introduces new faces such as Miguel Diaz, Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz, Samantha LaRusso, and Tory Nichols.
I’m personally a big Karate Kid fan and I have been waiting for this sequel for years. Now that 3 seasons of the show are here, you can imagine I’ve seen the show multiple times. The show never gets boring and it blows my mind every time. I’ve done some research online to review fan theories and even create some of my own. That’s the focus of this article so let’s jump right into it!
Will Aisha return?
After Aisha’s actress Nichole Brown left the show, Cobra Kai’s writers had to find a way to write off Aisha’s character. In the show, Aisha’s parents took her to a private school to protect her after the infamous school brawl of Season 2. It has been predicted that Aisha would make a return in Season 4. Would she train at Daniel and Johnny’s new dojo, or will she return to Kreese’s Cobra Kai?
How will Johnny and Daniel run their new dojo?
Any Karate Kid fan knows that Johnny and Daniel have had a lot of difficulties in their rivalry. But how is their strained friendship going to affect their new dojo and even more, the students? Will Johnny and Daniel put their problems aside for the kids, or will their rivalry spark yet another “civil war” among the kids?
Will Kreese’s Cobra Kai be once again banned from the All Valley Tournament?
After Cobra Kai tormenting Daniel and company in the 80s, they were banned from the tournament. Johnny Lawrence got Cobra Kai unbanned in Season 1. However, now that Cobra Kai is in Kreese’s hands, will the All Valley committee let Cobra Kai compete, or will they be banned again?
Will Devon change the Sam/Tory rivalry?
If you’ve done your research, you’ll know that Season 4 of Cobra Kai is introducing a new character, Devon. Devon is described as “a potential new karate student who is relentlessly competitive, a quick study, and equally quick-tempered when she’s provoked.” She could serve as a new opponent for either Tory or Sam. Will Devon side with Tory, Sam, or will she provide a common enemy for the two girls?
Who did Kreese call in the Season 3 finale?
After Kreese challenges LaRusso and Lawrence to a final showdown at the tournament, he makes a phone call to an “old friend”. In the numerous amounts of flashbacks of Kreese in the Vietnam War, he saves young Terry Silver’s (from Karate Kid 3) life by killing their commander. Later, Silver said that he owes Kreese. This could build up to Terry Silver’s return and him helping Cobra Kai in their journey to the All Valley.
There are so many more questions we have. This is only a preview of Cobra Kai’s theories and questions. Season 4 will be released sometime in 2022 and I am already pumped for it! Looks like I’ve got to watch the show yet again!
