Courses

The CCA curriculum includes core courses in math, science, language arts/English and social studies for every grade. CCA also offers Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) Courses.

CCA offers a wide range of engaging elective courses available as early as kindergarten. Learners can explore a world language like Spanish or Chinese, tap into their creativity with Digital Arts or 3D Modeling, or prepare for a career with courses like Entrepreneurship or Sports & Entertainment Management.

Course Description

Driver’s Education covers the necessary steps to obtain the Pennsylvania driver’s permit and junior driver’s license, as well as the fundamental skills for responsible driving. The learner will identify and recognize traffic laws, signs and other markings, and basic checks on a vehicle. Also covered are the rules for sharing the roadway, responding to weather conditions and other vehicle emergencies, insurance needs and legally required vehicle maintenance.

Learners in Outdoor Emergency Preparedness will develop an understanding of ways to protect themselves, their community, and environment in an outdoor emergency. Learners will demonstrate outdoor skills and techniques and apply them in different settings. Course topics include fitness and wellness benefits with each outdoor activity, the proper use and care of outdoor equipment, planning for outdoor activities, first aid, outdoor emergency care, CPR, and winter rescue. Learners will also develop an understanding of outdoor sports injuries, wilderness extractions, high-altitude illness, cold weather conditions, and specialized equipment for emergency care and transportation in challenging environments.

Course Description

The middle school Japanese language course utilizes the Rosetta Stone e-learning platform. Rosetta Stone is a mastery-based program that allows learners to work at their own pace through daily language lessons. A learner’s familiarity with the language is assessed at the beginning and assigned a level of one through five. The goal is for learners to complete their designated level in one school year. During the course, learners enjoy supplemental discussion boards and live classroom sessions with their peers to practice speaking and listening skills, and learn about the culture of the language they are studying. Learners also will have access to the many games and activities within the Rosetta Stone program for extra practice, which makes learning the language fun and interesting.
