Arabic 1

By the end of Arabic 1, learners will master the Arabic alphabet and sound system, be able to distinguish and pronounce all Arabic sounds, and write accurately from dictation, comprehend simple print/audio/video texts on familiar topics, and compose simple paragraphs about themselves and their families and friends. Learners will learn the differences between formal and spoken or dialectal Arabic. They will be able to use cultural expressions from the Arabic-speaking world appropriately. Finally, learners will acquire a basic understanding of the geography of the Arabic-speaking world and an awareness of common traditions and customs from Arab cultures.
