Latin 2

Mons Olympus, Part II (Latin 2) introduces six more Olympian gods. The symbols, myths, and culture surrounding these Roman deities will guide learners through the linguistic structures they are learning. Learners will discover Apollo’s oracles given at Delphi, explore Neptune’s sea, and join Volcanus in his workshop. Through these lessons and by reading stories about heroes like Ulixes (Odysseus) Achilles, and Aeneas, learners will acquire some understanding of how the Latin language and Roman civilization influenced each other. They will also demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives. Throughout, learners will improve their Latin reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through the context of these powerful stories. The successful Latin 2 learner will produce language in audio recordings and in writing. Due to the cumulative nature of language studies, a minimum grade of 75% (C) in Latin 1 is recommended.
