CCA President and CEO Named One of City & State PA’s Fifty Over 50

HARRISBURG – Commonwealth Charter Academy’s (CCA), Pennsylvania’s largest and premier public cyber charter school, President and CEO Thomas D. Longenecker was recently recognized as one of City & State Pennsylvania’s Fifty Over 50 during a celebration in Conshohocken, Montgomery County.

According to City & State PA, this award honors fifty of Pennsylvania’s most prominent and accomplished leaders in government, business, and media over the age of 50 who continue to make a positive impact on Pennsylvania through their achievements, leadership abilities, philanthropic efforts, and dedication to the betterment of the state.

“Under Mr. Longenecker’s leadership and innovative approach, CCA is the most sought-after K through 12 public cyber charter school that is delivering a high-quality, flexible, personalized education to families across Pennsylvania,” said CCA Board of Trustees Chairman Ralph I. Dyer. “Mr. Longenecker is worthy of this recognition because he has the foresight and vision to transform education into a student- and family-centered partnership. On behalf of all CCA staff, the Board extends heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Longenecker for this much-deserved award.”

Mr. Longenecker joined CCA in 2012 and served as chief operating officer until being appointed as president and CEO effective July 1, 2020. Through innovation and leveraging technology, he is leading the charge to upend education to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, socioeconomic status, or beliefs, receives a world-class, flexible, customized education.

With more than 25 years of experience in educational leadership, Mr. Longenecker has extensive knowledge of transforming education to be both student- and family-focused.

In the past three years, CCA’s enrollment has nearly tripled to more than 25,000 students and its staff complement has increased to just under 2,000.

Although CCA is the state’s largest public cyber charter school, Mr. Longenecker takes pride in serving every student, one student at a time.
