Commonwealth Charter Academy Secures Bronze Telly Award for Curriculum Video Content

CCA’s in-house video team creates high-quality, engaging video educational materials

HARRISBURG – Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA), Pennsylvania’s premier and largest K through 12 public cyber charter school, is pleased to announce that it has secured its first-ever Telly Award (Bronze) in the Online General-Education & Training category for its kindergarten video lesson, Treehouse Time – Story Detective.

“CCA is committed to delivering high-quality, engaging educational programs that bring learning to life for students,” said CCA President and CEO Thomas D. Longenecker. “This award is a testament to the talented and creative abilities of our in-house video team, as they develop best-in-class video content for thousands of students across Pennsylvania.”

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honor excellence in local, regional, cable television, and non-broadcast video, and showcase the best work created within television and across video for all screens.

For the last several years, CCA has been creating its own courses and curriculum to better serve students and families. As part of this process, the video team has produced thousands of videos for student lessons at all grade levels. By creating high-quality, immersive, and engaging video programming, CCA captures students’ attention and takes learning to a whole new level.

As the leader of online public education, CCA is moving away from third-party curriculum providers by revamping its course selections with materials and content that are created in-house by Pennsylvania-certified educators who are experts in online learning.

With hundreds of courses and thousands of hours of lessons, current and future CCA students will be provided with a world-class education that is second to none.

CCA’s in-house video team is comprised of James Rohrbaugh, manager of video production; Abdullah Abu-Mahfouz, consultant; Cody Stoneroad, video specialist; Miya Hibshman, video specialist; and Shawn Gilgore, video specialist.

“James, Abdullah, Cody, Miya, and Shawn are to be commended for their ability to create video content that is both educational and engaging,” said Longenecker. “On behalf of all CCA students, families, and staff, I congratulate the team for this recognition. It is well deserved and demonstrates CCA’s commitment to educational excellence.”
