Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) was founded in 2003 as a K-12 statewide public cyber charter school. We provide a free online education to all Pennsylvania students, including those living in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Erie and Allentown.
At CCA, we believe learning is different from studying, so we do not measure a child’s academic success based on test scores or graduation. Our mission is to deliver a personalized learning experience that engages the entire family and prepares students to succeed in school and in life.
We aim to help every child enrolled in our cyber school program be the best he or she can be. Our school encourages families to get involved in their children’s education so we can work together to provide them with the best educational experience. This is why more than 94 percent of parents give CCA positive reviews.

The Commonwealth Charter Academy team knows each family is different, and may not operate on the typical 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule. Our cyber school provides your family with total flexibility so you and your child don’t have to worry about missing a class.
A flexible schedule allows high school students to pursue part-time jobs and internships, and lets students of all ages pursue sports and other extracurricular activities. This helps children structure a curriculum that sparks passion for knowledge and growth. See how total flexibility works for CCA cyber school families.
Do you worry about whether your child is safe when he or she is at school? CCA allows you to stop worrying because your child can learn from home. Our online school platform means your child does not need to travel to and from a brick-and-mortar school to receive an education.
While CCA is predominantly an online school, we offer opportunities for your child to socialize with other students. We offer students a variety of socialization opportunities, including field trips, clubs and activities, conservatory workshops and more.
Your child’s education is only as strong as the partnership between you and your child’s teacher. That’s why you have a voice in your child’s education. Family involvement makes a difference in maximizing your child’s potential, which is why we urge you to work in collaboration with our highly qualified, Pennsylvania-certified teachers.
When you and your family need help, CCA is there. Each new family is assigned a family mentor who helps you navigate CCA’s unique online school. We have 12 Family Service Centers around the state in case your child needs that extra bit of face-to-face help from his or her teacher.
We want to help all Pennsylvania children. That’s why CCA teaches all students, including those who are gifted and those who have a learning disability. Our cyber school has the right teachers to assist your family in educating your child.
Programs for gifted students and students with learning disabilities are designed to allow them to go at their own pace. Whether your child needs to go faster than other students or has to take more time, our cyber school teachers will be there every step of the way.
At Commonwealth Charter Academy, we want to help students gain the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to become productive, happy members of their communities as adults.
CCA prepares children to enjoy success in our online school, so they can land great jobs in their fields of choice and give back to the communities in which they live, work and play. It’s about preparing today’s students to become tomorrow’s leaders and contribute to society’s betterment.
