Commonwealth Charter Academy Senior Named PennLive’s Best and Brightest Class of 2023

The soon-to-be-graduate will be attending Yale University

HARRISBURG – Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA), Pennsylvania’s premier and largest K through 12 public cyber charter school, is pleased to announce that Atticus “Drake” Christianson, a senior and soon-to-be-graduate, has been named as one of PennLive’s Best and Brightest Class of 2023.

“On behalf of the entire CCA family, I want to congratulate Drake for being recognized for his hard work and achievements,” said CCA President and CEO Thomas D. Longenecker. “As a dedicated student who is actively involved in the community, Drake exemplifies how today’s students will be the leaders of tomorrow.”

Drake is among 20 high school seniors from 18 high schools in six counties in central Pennsylvania to be chosen by PennLive for this year’s recognition.

While attending CCA, Drake interned in AgWorks at CCA, which is a 6,100-square-foot indoor, closed-loop, soilless growing system created to teach students about aquaponics, hydroponics, and aeroponics.

Some of his honors include distinguished honor roll, CCA Excellence in Achievement Award, Pennsylvania Certificate of Merit, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honor Society, and National Honor Society.

Drake is also a member of CCA’s Real World Design Challenge team, which has won numerous awards over the past several years, including two state titles, a national title, and a second-place international title.

He plans to attend Yale University and pursue a dual major in astrophysics and environmental science.

“As a public cyber charter school, CCA is committed to preparing all students for post-high school success,” said Longenecker. “Drake is a testament to the high-quality, flexible educational programs offered at CCA. I’m confident that Drake and his family are proud of the education he received at CCA as well as all of his successes and achievement; CCA joins in celebrating with them.”
