Honors Social Studies 8

In Honors Social Studies 8, US History, learners explore the history of the United States through collaboration, multimedia, and projects. To begin, learners explore what was happening around the world before our nation formed. Learners will be able to understand how European and African historical events led to the creation of the United States. Once they uncover how the new nation was formed, learners explore the English settlements, the early republic, and the issues that the founders encountered along the way. Learners make connections between the forming of the United States and what it has become today. The study of primary sources and document-based discussions is also emphasized.
