English 11

English 11 focuses on the study of American literature from a variety of time periods and examines how historical events influenced American writers. Learners have the opportunity to continue the development of skills related to literary analysis by reading a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts. Short stories, poetry, novels, drama, historical documents, articles, and personal accounts are read. The course emphasizes the skills needed to produce well-written works, concentrating on elements of style and the choices available to good writers.
