Aquaponics is opening doors across the world as an avenue to provide sustainable, high-quality food, without the use of pesticides or harmful chemicals. This type of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) incorporates technology into growing our food. Why? Did you know that the average American’s food travels between 1,000-1,500 miles before it hits the grocery store? Or that the #1 trend in food service is to provide people with safe, organic, locally grown food? This course will explore aquaponics, hydroponics, technology in agriculture and much more, using CCA’s state of the art CEA Lab. This lab includes prototypes for gathering data on plant growth, fish health (aquaponics!), and light manipulation. Come explore CEA and how technology can improve the food we eat in a safer, friendlier way!
