Title IX Compliance
What is Title IX?
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq., is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.
Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) is committed to providing an educational and working environment that is free from sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment as defined in Title IX (Title IX sexual harassment) is prohibited. Any person, including a CCA employee or learner, engages in Title IX sexual harassment whenever the person engages in conduct on the basis of an individual’s sex that satisfies one or more of the following:
- A CCA employee conditioning the provision of an aid, benefit, or service of CCA on an individual’s participation in unwelcome sexual conduct, commonly referred to as quid pro quo sexual harassment.
- Unwelcome conduct determined by a reasonable person to be so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal access to a CCA education program or activity.
- Sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking.
To qualify as sexual harassment under Title IX, such conduct must occur in a CCA education program or activity against a person in the United States.
Reporting Title IX Sexual Harassment
Any person may report sexual harassment, regardless of whether the reporting person is the alleged victim of the conduct that could constitute Title IX sexual harassment. A report may be made at any time, including during nonbusiness hours, to the Title IX Coordinator by using the telephone number, email address, or office address (see below for contact information).
Use of CCA’s Discrimination, Harassment, Title IX Sexual Harassment, Retaliation, and Other Prohibited Conduct Report Form to report Title IX sexual harassment is encouraged.
