Five-year progress delivers a 25% increase in the four-year cohort graduation rate
HARRISBURG – Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA), Pennsylvania’s most sought-after K-12 public cyber charter school, today announced that its four-year cohort graduation rate increased from 64.88% in 2023–24 to 73.07% in 2024-25 – an increase of 8.19 percentage points, representing a 13% year-over-year gain and a 25% increase over five years.
This milestone reflects CCA’s long-term commitment to personalized learning and strong student and family partnerships. Teachers and staff work closely with students and their families, providing tailored resources, one-on-one guidance, and flexible support to help every student succeed.
Each year, approximately 30% of students who newly enroll at CCA at the high school level transfer in having earned insufficient credits at their previous schools to remain on track with their original four-year graduation cohort. CCA’s staff works closely with these students and their families through individualized academic plans, targeted interventions, and flexible scheduling to help them recover credits, rejoin their cohort, and graduate on time.
“This remarkable growth in our graduation rate is a testament to the dedication of our students, the unwavering support of their families, and the tireless commitment of our teachers and staff,” said CCA President and CEO Thomas D. Longenecker. “Every percentage point represents a story of perseverance, resilience, and the pursuit of a brighter, successful future.”
Building on a realignment of student and family support efforts and guided by the school’s mission, vision, and values, CCA’s student-focused initiatives ensure every student stays on track to graduate. Through personalized academic plans, homeroom advisors, counseling collaboration, and targeted interventions, including Academic Progress Transfers, expanded credit recovery, and accelerated courses, students receive tailored support, timely progress monitoring, and guidance to graduate prepared for college, the workforce, or the military.
“Our innovative programs, one-on-one mentoring, and career-focused opportunities ensure that students don’t just graduate, but graduate prepared to succeed in college, career, and life,” Longenecker said. “This growth reflects what’s possible when education is personalized and student-centered.”
