Honors World History

Honors World History begins with an overview of ancient civilizations and pre-modern societies, then moves chronologically from 1450 to the present day. Learners practice the skills of historical inquiry to analyze and interpret events within the context of the era. Transformative eras of history covered include the Contact Period, Renaissance, Enlightenment, industrialization, imperialism, world wars, and globalization. Learners analyze primary sources and produce projects related to historical study, including historical reading and writing, geography, continuity and change, and conflict and cooperation among groups. Learners should expect a rigorous history curriculum, deeper exploration of course content, in-class discourse, and faster pace. The most successful Honors history learners are problem solvers and strong writers with highly developed organization skills.
