Honors English 9

By utilizing an integrated reading and writing approach, Honors English 9 provides learners with opportunities and resources to develop the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Learners are exposed to texts of various genres, including multimedia, where they analyze concepts, cite evidence, and respond critically about their learning. Learners use the writing process to enhance skills by writing in various genres in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. Learners take ownership of progress through goal setting, reflections, independent reading, and collaboration with peers. The successful Honors English learner demonstrates mastery of standard English material in prior grade levels. Learners should expect a rigorous reading and writing curriculum, in-class discourse, and a faster pace. The most successful Honors English learners are strong writers with highly developed organizational skills.
