Honors ELA 8

English Language Arts 8 provides learners with opportunities and resources to develop the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The course is centered around the themes of humanity and society, personal growth, technology, and the natural world. Learners are exposed to texts of various genres where they analyze concepts, cite evidence, and respond critically to learning. Learners use the writing process to enhance skills by writing in various genres in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. Learners take ownership of their progress through goal setting and reflection, as well as participation in literature circles and an end-of-course passion project. This course is designed to challenge learners through activities focused on critical thinking, collaborative discussion and deep exploration of content.
