Consumer Math

Consumer Math explores the connection between mathematical concepts and the skills learners need to become a financially responsible citizen. Learners will review and apply current math skills to various scenarios they are likely to encounter as an adult including filing taxes, budgeting, and protecting against identity theft. Earning income, utilizing financial institutions, and using credit responsibly will be a focus of the course. By the end of the course, learners will understand types of insurance, how to make informed purchasing decisions, budgets, investing, and protecting their financial interests.
