Hi! I’m Susan Chopp, and I’ve been a Family Mentor since early 2021. Our family joined CCA in the fall of 2020 when our son started 5th grade. He previously attended a private school from kindergarten through 4th grade, but changes at the school and health concerns prompted us to explore other options. Thankfully, several friends and teachers recommended CCA.  We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact CCA has had on our son. It’s been such a joy to see him thrive—not only academically, but also socially. Through Zoom classes, clubs, and field trips, he’s made stronger friendships than he ever had in a traditional classroom. He’s rediscovered his love for learning and has taken part in the National Junior Honor Society and even interned in CCA’s Aquaponics Lab.  CCA’s flexibility has allowed us to manage frequent doctor appointments without compromising his education. In addition to being a Learning Coach and Mentor, I also work part-time as a program coordinator at a music school. I enjoy gardening, nature walks, family time, and practicing Tang Soo Do with our son. 

Hi, my name is Angel Rinker, and this is my sixth year as a CCA parent. I’m a mom of five amazing children who have experienced a variety of learning styles and support at CCA—including general education, learning support, IEP services, and honors courses.  One of the things we love most about CCA is how the school recognizes that each child is unique and offers multiple pathways for growth and success. The flexibility allows our family to travel and work at each child’s pace. We also love attending and participating in CCA’s clubs and field trips as this is a nice way to connect with other CCA families.  As a Family Mentor, I truly enjoy connecting with other parents and helping them navigate their own CCA journey. I’m here to support you as you explore what works best for your family. 

Hello! I’m Jaclyn Perris—a proud mom of six (including two stepchildren) and happily married for 16 years. This is our fifth year with CCA and my third year as a Family Mentor. We transitioned from brick-and-mortar schools when our four youngest were in 6th grade, and we haven’t looked back since!  After losing my job during the COVID pandemic, I saw an opportunity to take charge of my children’s education, and CCA made that possible. The support we’ve received, especially with IEP goals and extra help in reading and math, has been incredible.  My kids have continued participating in sports and other activities without missing a beat, and we love the quality time we spend together on CCA’s field trips. Most importantly, I’ve enjoyed connecting with and supporting other families, especially those who feel uncertain about their child’s current educational path. CCA has truly been life-changing for our family. 

Hi! My name is Desiree Balliet, and this is our fourth year with CCA. I’m a proud mom to a second grader, an eighth grader, and twin fifth-grade learners. We’re a very busy family, balancing school across multiple grade levels, extracurricular activities, and life, including my oldest daughter’s nine dance classes that she just had to sign up for!  CCA has been an incredible experience for our family. It allows my children to explore new interests and take advantage of opportunities that simply wouldn’t have been possible in a traditional school setting. I love sharing our experiences and helping other families learn more about what makes CCA such a great option. I look forward to connecting with you! 

Hola, me llamo Yashira Laboy. Tengo 6 niños inscritos en CCA desde Secundaria, Preparatoria, hasta Elemental.  Llevo 6 años disfrutando de los magníficos beneficios que ofrece CCA a mis hijos y he podido ver el crecimiento de cada uno de ello. Me gusta participar con mi familia de las excursiones y eventos en persona que CCA ofrece. Algo que me gusta de nuestra escuela es la flexibilidad, el tener a mis hijos estudiando desde casa y los programas que CCA ofrece para ayudar a preparar a los estudiantes para la vida Post Secundaria. También disfruto ayudando a otras familias con tips y consejos para obtener el éxito y a conocer un poco más sobre CCA.    Hello, my name is Yashira Laboy. For the past seven years, I have had six children enrolled in CCA, ranging in various grade levels from elementary to high school.  One of my greatest joys has been watching each of my children grow and thrive here at CCA.   My family enjoys participating in engagement events and field trips that are offered by CCA. One of my favorite aspects of our school is flexibility. This allows us to have our children learn from home while also benefiting from programs that will prepare them for life after graduation. Lastly, I also enjoy helping other families by sharing tips and advice to support their success and help them learn more about CCA’s amazing opportunities.  .

Hello! My name is Tiffany Bosley. This is my fifth year as a CCA Family Mentor and our family’s ninth year with CCA. We made the switch from our local brick-and-mortar school during the second half of my oldest son’s first-grade year—and we’ve never looked back!  Currently, we have a tenth-grade learner in the honors program, a third and fifth grader with an IEP who receives additional support, and a first grader—all thriving here at CCA!  Also, as parents to a toddler at home, our journey has shown us just how flexible and supportive CCA is. I love sharing what I’ve learned to help other families make the most of their experiences. 

Hello! My name is Kelle Sheckler, and we’ve proudly been a CCA family since 2017. My husband and I have two wonderful children. We first joined CCA when our son started kindergarten—we knew early on that traditional brick-and-mortar school wasn’t the right fit for our family.  After exploring our options, CCA quickly rose to the top of our list, and we’ve never looked back! Two years later, our daughter—now in 5th grade—joined her brother as a kindergartener, and we officially became a full-time CCA family.  We feel incredibly blessed to have our children learning in an environment that supports their individual needs, offers flexibility, and opens the door to unique opportunities. In addition to being a Learning Coach and Family Mentor, I love spending time with my family and exploring new places together. 

Hello! My name is Jennifer Harrison, and we’ve been a proud CCA (Commonwealth Charter Academy) family for ten years! I have three children currently enrolled and have experience managing multiple learners across all grade levels.  As a family, we love the flexibility CCA provides—it allows us to stay connected while supporting our children’s growth both academically and socially. CCA has created a fun, engaging, and family-friendly learning environment where our kids continue to thrive. Each year, the school grows in its ability to provide top-quality education, social events, and learning opportunities.  As a Contact-a-Parent Family Mentor, I love sharing our experiences with other families. It’s an honor to help parents make informed decisions about their child’s education by answering their questions and offering honest insights. 

Hello! My name is Claudine Fleming. Before my learner graduated, we spent five wonderful years with CCA. The flexibility of cyber schooling allowed us to build our family time around our lifestyle, all while providing a top-quality education tailored to his needs. This was especially helpful as my son explored computer science, robotics, and other activities that required travel and a flexible schedule. Along with supporting my own family and other newly enrolled CCA families, I also volunteer in my local community. My experiences with CCA have inspired me to help others discover the same balance and sense of fulfillment that we’ve enjoyed.

Hi! I’m Jen Ferguson. My family has been enrolled with CCA for twelve years, and I’ve been a Family Mentor for the past eight years. We have four children and started our journey with CCA when our oldest began kindergarten. We are so proud to say that she is officially a CCA Class of 2025 graduate! We also have children in 11th, 10th, and 6th grade.  My husband and I feel incredibly blessed to school our children at home. Being involved in their learning has helped us grow as individuals and as a family. Our kids have made lasting friendships through virtual classes, clubs, and field trips. CCA has provided us with an excellent curriculum and resources, supportive teachers and staff, and countless educational and social opportunities. I’m confident we made the right school choice, and I’m proud to share our journey with other families.
