CCA graduates celebrate success across Pennsylvania

Commonwealth Charter Academy awards diplomas to approximately 900 students.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA), a public cyber charter school with more than 9,000 students in Pennsylvania, this week is honoring its graduates at four commencement ceremonies across Pennsylvania. The class of 2017 included approximately 900 students, and collectively they received more than $2.2 million in scholarships for their continued education.

CCA held graduation ceremonies in the New Castle, Harrisburg, Lehighton and Philadelphia regions. The graduates, some of whom met their classmates in person for the first time, wore caps and gowns and walked across the stage to receive their diplomas in front of family, friends and classmates. The ceremonies were livestreamed for those who could not attend. Graduates and their families attended celebratory social gatherings after the ceremonies.

In his graduation address, Dr. Maurice “Reese” Flurie, CEO of Commonwealth Charter Academy, encouraged graduates to look forward to new challenges and opportunities and to always “achieve forward.”

“Give each and every accomplishment sufficient time to be recognized and remembered, but do not rest there. Strive to accomplish more,” Flurie said. “Keep looking for the next contribution you can make. You will be better for it, and so will all of your communities.”

CCA provides graduates a strong foundation for success in whichever field they choose after high school. CCA graduates go on to leading colleges and universities across the country, technical or occupational training, military service or the workforce.

This year also marked the first class to graduate as “Commonwealth Charter Academy” students, following the school’s name change in 2016.
