Tech tuneup days help CCA families get ready for school year

Tech tuneup days offer you a quick introduction to your computer and ensure you are ready to get started with classes.

Attending Commonwealth Charter Academy is a unique experience. Our commitment to family service begins the moment you start the application process. CCA prides itself on providing ongoing educational and technical support for our families.

To help new families get acclimated to CCA — and to offer veteran families a refresher course — from Aug. 29-31 we will be holding tech tuneup days. The goal of these days is to offer you a quick introduction to your computer and ensure you are ready to get started with classes. The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 29: High school (grades 9-12)
  • Wednesday, Aug. 30: Middle school (grades 6-8)
  • Thursday, Aug. 31: Elementary school (grades K-5)

On your designated day, dust off your student’s laptop, set up your student’s workspace and make sure your equipment is ready to start the school year. If you can't attend a tech tuneup day on your designated date, you can troubleshoot your computer at any time before the start of the school year.

If you experience technical difficulties with your equipment or if your password is no longer working, refer to the video that was sent via webmail or call the technical support team (toll-free) at 844-590-2864 and select option 2. 

After you have logged in, please do the following:

  • Review your student’s course schedule. This is particularly important for high school students. If you have concerns with your course schedule, contact your student’s guidance counselor through webmail.
  • Watch the principals' video. This video contains important messages that will prepare you and your students for the coming school year. The message can be located in the virtual library.

Here are quick tips to make sure you’re ready to get your child off to a good start:

Power and EULA

First, make sure your computer powers on. Plug your computer into a working wall outlet with the AC adapter that was shipped with your laptop. Ensure the battery is firmly inserted in its bay on the underside of the laptop, then hit the power button. You will see an HP screen flash, a loading screen and eventually a window with the “End User License” agreement. Read this agreement because it will acquaint you with how best to use your computer. You will be able to sign into Windows by clicking “OK.”

Connect to a network

After you have signed into Windows, verify that your computer is logged into your home network. If you are using an ethernet cable, simply plug the computer into an active network with your ethernet cable and you should be good to go.

If you're using a wireless network, you will need to find your home network and sign into it using your new computer.


Now that you can connect to the internet, the next step is to sign into Connexus. If you attended a Great Start orientation session, you might recall that Connexus is the platform on which your learner will do the bulk of his or her work with CCA.

You should have been given your username and a temporary password for you and your student when you received your laptop. Use these to sign into Connexus. Once you are there, reset your password to something secure and personal to you or your student — depending on the account you are using.

You can do this by clicking on “Account Settings” in the upper right, then selecting “My Profile.” Simply enter the temporary password you used to sign into Connexus the first time, then enter your new password twice. Your password must be at least eight characters long, with at least one of each of the following: an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number or special character (such as a question mark or exclamation point).

When you have access to Connexus, you are ready to begin. If you have questions or any technical issue pops up over the course of the school year, our help desk team is available to assist.
